Flash Flood Warning for Now, More Rain Tonight

Semi-Truck Driving Through Flooded 25th Avenue
A semi wades through high waters on 25th Ave., between Washington Blvd. and St. Charles Rd.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Cook County and forecasts more rainfall and “possibly a thunderstorm before 1 am:”

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1/2 INCH TO AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE IN
THE WARNED AREA THIS AFTERNOON AS LOW PRESSURE MOVES ALONG THE IOWA
ILLINOIS BORDER.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE ELEVATED
LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...PONDING OF WATER ON
ROADS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS... UNDERPASSES AND LOW LYING AREAS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.
