Maywood residents have reported a possible hazardous chemical spill at the Water Works facility at 9th Avenue and Wilcox Street. Initial reports came in at around 9 AM this morning, with some reporting that the chemical involved is chlorine. No official word from village personnel yet.
According to Chicago Fire Map, the incident happened at approximately 8:29 AM and was classified as a chlorine spill/box alarm. The hazard was stopped, according to the report, at 9:34 AM.
