No Injuries Reported After Minor Fire At Proviso East Jan. 19

Area fire departments responded to a small fire in the main office at Proviso East High School in Maywood on Jan. 19, at around 5 PM, according to a statement put out by the district.

The building was evacuated and no injuries were reported. According to the district’s statement, the fire was contained to the a small area in the main office.

There’s been no word yet on the cause of the fire. Attempts to reach district officials and the Maywood Fire Department were unsuccessful.

Classes did resume as scheduled today, Jan. 20.

The school has recently undergone renovations from a May 2014 three-alarm fire that caused significant damage to several classrooms. VFP
