LETTERS: The D209 School Board Majority Owes Us An Explanation

Letter to the EditorThursday, May 5, 2016 || LETTERS

It was disturbing to read about the recent proposed changes at the District 209 School Board meeting.

The attempt to alter the term of the presidency without any apparent justification is very bothersome.

What is the true motive behind this act? Was there  a dereliction of duties? What efficiency would be maximized by this action?

You would think that maneuvers like this would not be taking place within a school district that’s struggling to regain its respectability.

A school board that’s facing high truancy, high drop out rates and that is academically anemic should not spend it’s time with such matters.

These antics only ossify the systemic issues of the school system and further delay the restoration of the community’s trust in the district and the board.

Moreover, they should be mindful of the fact that the children are watching them. And, as students, children play out these same kind of antics in the classroom. The professionals refer to it as bullying!

Nevertheless, I am willing to be opened-minded. Perhaps there is justification for this decision. If so, might the proponents of this deed layout their reasons for this action? To do otherwise makes this very suspicious and appears to be nefarious at best.

As it is written: “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed (John 3:20).”

My prayer is  for harmony and fair play to become normalized within the school board of district 209. VFP
