Bellwood, IL — Terrence Murphy, 48 of Bellwood, walked into a hotel July 14 in Proviso Township, expecting to find a prostitute he met through an advertisement on Backpage.com.
Instead, Murphy saw a woman he recognized as a Cook County Sheriff’s police officer. But before he could escape the sting arranged by a sheriff’s vice unit, Murphy was arrested, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
This was Murphy’s third run-in with an undercover operation. He’d also been arrested from hotels Feb. 5 in Central Stickney Township and again March 24 in Palos Township after responding to Backpage.com advertisements. In those cases, he was cited for the violation of the county’s public morals nuisance.’
In the July 14 case, Murphy, who is the dean of students at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, was charged with solicitation of a sex act, which is a misdemeanor, according to the sheriff’s office. VFP
