Maywood Police Investigating Saturday Morning Homicide, Aug. 6

The Maywood Police Department is investigating a homicide after a shooting that happened near 6th Ave. and St. Charles on Saturday at around 9:30 a.m., according to Chief Valdimir Talley.

According to Talley, the victim, a Maywood resident who is currently unidentified, was shot while driving with a passenger from Chicago. The passenger, police say, probably ran away from the scene during the shooting. This is Maywood’s fourth homicide this year.

Currenty, Talley said no suspects are in custody, but that detectives are currently canvassing the village for more information.

A previous version of this story, citing Talley, noted that this was the village’s fifth homicide. Talley has since said that the murder was only the village’s fourth.
