Firefighters from Maywood, Broadview, Melrose Park and other surrounding villages worked to put out a two-alarm house fire early Wednesday morning at a home near South 5th Ave. and Maple St., according to multiple reports.
An ABC 7 report noted that emergency crews closed down 5th Ave. between Randolph and Oak Street as firefighters tried putting the blaze out.
A report on Chicago Fire Map noted that the blaze, which started at around 5:45 a.m., may have spread to multiple houses in the area.
According to a Maywood Historic Preservation commissioner, the home was a Victorian structure that may have been a candidate for local landmark status.
