ABC 7 Chicago reports that, as of Monday morning, the family of Donte Jones, the 36-year-old father of four and a Maywood resident, is still looking for answers about his tragic death.
Jones was shot by Markham police early Sunday morning outside of Stadium Night Club, located on Dixie Highway in Markham. Police in that southwestern suburb said that numerous fights happened within the club’s parking lot on Saturday night.
Markham police claim that Jones was armed, according to ABC 7:
“Markham’s police chief says Jones moved close to one of the officers while armed with a gun, feeling threatened, the chief said his officer fired at Dante Jones.
“The family says police have video proof that can answer the painful questions of how and why they shot and killed Donte Jones.”
Jones’ family members said they haven’t heard from “Markham police, Illinois State Police, or the mayor of Markham since Jones was shot and killed Sunday morning,” the ABC 7 report notes. To read the full report, click here. VFP
