A structure fire that took place Sunday night in Maywood has left numerous residents without a place to live.

According to Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh, the fire took place at around 8:30 p.m. last night on the 1000 block of South 14th Ave.

Bronaugh said that there were no injuries reported and foul play is not suspected as a cause of the fire. All of the apartment’s tenants, however, have been displaced, he said.

The family of Marcius Scaggs, a former Maywood trustee and a candidate for a trustee seat in the April 4 elections, is reportedly among the displaced, according to Facebook postings Scaggs uploaded 10 hours ago.

Scaggs wrote that he and his family is safe and are currently staying in a hotel above several photos that appear to show last night’s fire. Scaggs could not be immediately reached for comment.
