A Maywood man has been arrested and charged with the murder of another village resident.

Maywood police arrested Terry L. Gilford, 40, on March 21. Gilford has been charged with one count of first degree murder in the death of Garcel S. Woods on “or about January 25-26, 2017,” according to a statement released Monday by Deputy Chief Elijah Willis.

Woods was discovered by Chicago police under the Green Line L train track on the 6300 block of South Parnell Ave. in the city’s Englewood neighborhood.

“Further investigation revealed that the victim was shot twice in the chest area in Mr. Gilford’s residence,” and taken to the area where police found Woods’s body.

Gilford is scheduled to appear in court today. Police had no more information into the case. VFP
