After electing its first African American mayor eight years ago, Broadview seems poised to elect an African American female to succeed him. Katrina Thompson held a commanding, and likely insurmountable lead, as of 11:50 p.m. in a five-person race for Broadview mayor.

Thompson headed up the Broadview People’s Party, which included the village’s outgoing mayor, Sherman Jones, as its trustee candidate. After Broadview residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of a ballot measure implementing mayoral term limits, Jones was prohibited from running for a third consecutive term.

Having garnered roughly 20 percent of the vote with five of the village’s six precincts reporting, Jones seems the most popular trustee candidate in a 9-person race for three open trustee seats on the Broadview village board. VFP

  1. A very capable woman who I’m sure will be working at the highest levels to represent and lead Broadview and it’s citizens

  2. Good morning,
My name is Dennis Jones…im a proud Broadview park District employee..but I have a question…why must we be forced to work with faulty equipment???None of it gets the job done…Which leaves our parks looking horrible…i really have a problem half doing anything…I don’t get paid much…but I can’t earn a raise if I can’t compete the work…i’m open for any suggestions..
