According to a WGN TV news report, search crews that were out on the Des Plaines River in search of a teenager who may have drowned on Saturday night have temporarily halted their efforts.
“Emergency crews from several towns responded just before 5 [Saturday] evening to an area behind Lincoln College of Technology,” the report noted.
According to witnesses, three young people “jumped into the river, but one of them could not swim and went under.”
The area is a popular hang out for teenagers, witnesses told WGN. This search appears unrelated to a previous effort on May 12 to retrieve a dead body from the Des Plaines that was discovered by workers who were cleaning the river.
The search team looking for the missing teenager is expected to resume their efforts on Sunday. VFP
