The Maywood police announced today that they’ve secured felony charges against a 30-year-old Melrose Park man who crashed his vehicle in Maywood last year, killing a woman.

Cory Steffen was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI after what police say was a yearlong investigation into the crash by the Maywood Police Department Investigative Unit.

On Aug. 31, 2016, Steffen crashed his vehicle at the corner of 9th Ave. and Madison St. Giselle Marchan, a passenger, was ejected from Steffen’s vehicle. She was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where she later died of her injuries.

On June 1, Maywood police transported Steffen to the Circuit Court of Cook County 4th Municipal District, where a preliminary hearing date is scheduled for July 5. His bond was set at $300,000. VFP
