Lois Baumann, the co-founder of Maywood Fine Arts, wants Maywood residents to get to know each other more. Hence, the idea for a first-annual Front Porch Crawl, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 15, at 5:30 p.m.
“I realized that I know a lot of dancers who live in North Maywood but they know each other and they don’t their neighbors,” Baumann said. “In fact, in each of the Maywood neighborhoods, we really don’t know the wonderful people who live in them. I figured the best way to get people meeting each other is through socializing.”
Spooner Baumann, MFA’s communications director, said that participants will gather at 502 N. 4th Ave. at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and “crawl” to five more houses starting at 6 p.m. They’ll be split into teams of roughly 20 people, depending on the number of people who register.
“At each stop, we’ll enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvre, games and other entertainment,” Spooner said. “Some of these are historic homes, so people will get to experience the village’s great housing stock as well.”
Interested individuals can register for $25 up to, and on the day of, the event. To pre-register, click here.
