The Maywood Park District has hired a new executive director, according to a press release issued by Park District Board President Dawn Rone on Aug. 2.
The district hired Lonette Hall (pictured) to succeed former executive director Antonette Dorris, who announced earlier this year that she would not request an extension of her one-year contract that expired in July.
The search for Hall was conducted by the Illinois Association of Park Districts, according to district officials. In the Aug. 2 statement, district officials said that Hall “has a litany of resources that she will be bringing to our district for the people of Maywood.”
“Executive Director Hall brings 26 years of experience and talent in the park and recreational management industry to our district,” the statement read. “Through her endeavors, she has increased budgets 70 [percent], garnered programming from resources that never existed in those communities [and as a grant writer has] a 65 [percent] receiving ratio.”
According to her LinkedIn profile, Hall previously worked as a park professional at LCH Enterprises based in South Holland. She also worked in permits, rentals and concessions for the Cook County Forest Preserve for a year. Between 2012 and 2014, her LinkedIn notes, Hall served as director of programs and superintendent of recreation, respectively, for the Harvey Park District.
Hall’s LinkedIn shows that she has a bachelor’s in recreation administration from Chicago State University.
The Maywood Park District has scheduled a meet and greet for Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 6 p.m., at 921 S. 9th Ave. in Maywood. After the meet and greet, the district will open a regular park district board meeting at 7 p.m.
The district is asking the public to RSVP for the event by calling (708) 344-4740. Press ‘0’ for the front desk to confirm attendance. For more information, call the aforementioned number. VFP
