Free mammograms and Pap tests will be offered at Loyola University Medical Center to qualifying uninsured women on Saturday, August 19.
The See, Test and Treat® event will be held at the Loyola Outpatient Center, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, Illinois. Advance registration is required and the number of appointments is limited. Women ages 30 to 64 interested in participating are invited to call 888-584-7888 to verify eligibility and make an appointment.
“Early detection of breast and cervical cancers through regular screenings saves lives, so it is important for women, regardless of ability to pay, to receive care,” said Eva M. Wojcik, MD, chair of Loyola’s pathology department. “Thanks to this event, many women who do not regularly see a physician will receive these important health tests.”
Dr. Wojcik and a team of more than 35 Loyola health care professionals will team up for the event. Qualified women who make an appointment will receive same-day results on a Pap test, a breast exam and a mammogram for those age appropriate. Participants will also be given access to health education resources and the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with Loyola physicians and other healthcare experts.
Funded in part by a grant from the College of American Pathologists and the CAP Foundation, this is the third year Loyola has offered See, Test and Treat® free cancer screenings. VFP
