Dr. Howard Einhorn, an internal medicine physician at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital who specializes in treating diabetic patients will deliver Hai Solomon Community Lecture at the hospital’s professional office building, 675 W. North Ave., Melrose Park, (rooms E, F, G on the lower level), on Thursday, Sept. 14, 12 p.m.
According to a recent statement released by the hospital, Einhorn “will present an overview on the latest information regarding diabetes, with an emphasis on Type 2, including why it’s so prevalent today, the role of diet and activity, treatment options and new medicines.”
The American Diabetes Association estimates that more than 30 million Americans are diabetic, with over 7 million not diagnosed. The disease is the seventh-leading cause of the death in the country, according to the ADA.
“Diabetes has become an epidemic problem and millions of people are pre-diabetic and don’t know or understand what that means,” Dr. Einhorn said in the statement. “The goal of this lecture is to help people better understand Type 2 diabetes so they can manage the condition or prevent it from ever developing.”
Hai Solomon, the lecture series’ namesake, was a Gottlieb physician for 55 years, according to the hospital. VFP
