There’s a lot happening in the Proviso Township area this week. Here are just a sampling of the big events going on near you.

Surf Cyber Monday

On Monday, Nov. 27, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, computer users will be allowed access to Cyber Monday deals. A librarian will be present to answer any questions you have and to assist. Need computer help? Call us at (708) 343-1847 to schedule a one-on-one appointment.

Enjoy Wacky Wednesdays

On Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., visit the Melrose Park Public Library, 801 N. Broadway, for Wacky Wednesdays. Read, learn, and play in crazy and unpredictable ways. We will have different activities each month. Registration Required. (Limit 25, MPPL card holders have first priority) Ages 7-12.

Write an essay to win a free bike or car

Learn about a Maywood business expansion

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m., at Maywood Village Council Chambers, 125 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Maywood will hold a public hearing to consider a proposal from Mr. Barry Willey, president and CEO of National Cycle Inc., for a 28,407 square foot expansion of his National Cycle facility located at 2200 S Maywood Drive, and an MWRD-required retention basin at the south of the new proposed building footprint.   1. I hope that the residents of Maywood attend this town hall meeting this Tuesday at the village hall to discuss the business expansion. You guys have the right to voice your concern. Please knock on your neighbor’s door, help spread the word out about this Tuesday’s public hearing, and write down your “public comment” to let your voice be heard. There should be no excuses why you can’t attend this meeting.
