A Stone Park man faces multiple charges in connection to a Jan. 4 home invasion in Maywood that left a man dead and three people wounded.

The incident happened in an apartment on the 500 block of Lake St., in Maywood, on Jan. 4. James Randle, 33, allegedly entered the apartment and shot two of its residents, including  Samuel Rosales, 27, of Maywood, who died of his wounds.

According to a Jan. 5 Chicago Sun-Times report, “two masked gunmen forced their way” into the second-floor apartment at around 10:45 p.m. After a struggle ensued within the apartment, “several shots were fired.”

The Sun-Times added that two of the wounded were related to Rosales, according to police.

“It wasn’t clear if members of Rosales’ family also returned fire during the struggle,” the Sun-Times reported. “A handgun was found inside the home and a second handgun was found in an alley behind the apartment building.

“A fourth person was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to chest in the 300 block of North Sixth Avenue, police said. That person was currently being questioned by police in connection with the shooting.”

Police arrested Randle on Jan. 11. He was charged with first degree murder, home invasion and two counts of aggravated battery.
