A Broadview man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm after he accidentally shot himself in an Aurora restaurant, according to a Jan. 9 Patch report.
Sedrick Cooper, 18, was playing with “a .25 caliber automatic pistol that was in his pocket while sitting in a booth at a fast food restaurant,” Aurora police said.
The incident happened on Jan. 8, at around 2:30 p.m., the Patch reports police saying.
“Police said he was apparently playing with the pistol in his pocket when the gun went off and shot him in both legs,” the Patch reports. “Cooper tried to flee and was caught a short time later after police viewed security camera footage from the restaurant.”
Cooper had been detained in Aurora pending $20,000 bail. Read more details in the original Patch report here. VFP
