Broadview Fireman Injured While Putting Out Maywood House Fire Jan. 28

A Broadview firefighter sustained a minor injury while putting out a fire that happened at a home in Maywood on Jan. 28, according to Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh.

The one alarm fire happened in a single family home at 1420 S. 14th Ave., in Maywood, at around 10:21 a.m., according to dispatch records.

Bronaugh said that a firefighter sustained an ankle injury while fighting the blaze. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center.

“As a result of this fire, the home sustained significant damage,” Bronaugh said in a statement. “The cause of the fire was accidental.”

Bronaugh said that no one else was injured in the blaze, but the family who resided in the house has been displaced. He said that the Red Cross has provided assistance for the family. VFP
