There’s a lot happening in the Proviso Township area this week. Here are just a sampling of the big events going on near you.
Take advantage of a local winter produce market
On Saturday, Feb. 17, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Maywood Multipurpose Building, 200 S. 5th Ave., in Maywood, Forty Acres Fresh Market, in conjunction with Maywood Trustee Isiah Brandon, will host an indoor winter produce market.
Enjoy free sampling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with recipes from Maywood native and local author Regina Thomas Dillard. Cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.
Get the keys to a healthier you
On Saturday, Feb. 17, 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 436 S. 13th Ave., in Maywood, the women of the church, in partnership with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated’s Aurora chapter, will present the “Importance of Exercise.”
This event will feature a free continental breakfast and a presentation on healthy living and the importance of exercise. Come in exercise clothing or just come to get exercise tips. Do something about public safety
On Saturday, Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Maywood Park District, 921 S. 9th Ave., in Maywood, Proviso Partners for Health will host a Maywood Community Safety Summit. PP4H wants to hear from residents, keep the conversation going and move from talk to action.
Speaking of safety
The Maywood Police Department Zones 3 and 4 meeting location has changed. The new meeting place will be held at: Neighborhood United Methodist Church, 1817 Washington Blvd., in Maywood, 7 p.m., every 4th Monday. VFP
