The Maywood Park District Commission will soon open up the application process to anyone interested in being appointed to the commission seat left vacant by the death of former commissioner William Hampton, who died on Feb. 8.
During an interview on Feb. 22, commission president Dawn Williams-Rone said that interested candidates will be able to pick up applications at the park district’s headquarters, 921 S. 9th Ave. in Maywood, during business hours (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and Wednesday, Feb. 28.
All applications must be turned into the park district’s headquarters by the end of the business day on Friday, March 2. All candidates will be subject to background checks, are required to reside in Maywood, cannot have done business with the park district and must be at least 18 years old.
Lonette Hall, the park district executive director, will interview candidates between March 6 through March 8. Hall will recommend five candidates to be interviewed by commissioners on March 13, Rone said. VFP
