Santo Grimaldi, a WWII veteran who lives in Melrose Park, walked slowly, but purposefully to his seat inside of Wrigley Field on April 13.
The longtime Cubs fan told WGN 9 reporter Erin Ivory that every time he’s had a chance to get to a game … “I went.”
Naturally, Grimaldi celebrated his 100th birthday at a Cubs game surrounded by family members.
The experience was made even sweeter with the game’s results. The 100-year-old got to see his team shutout the Atlanta Braves, 4-0.

“All six of his kids, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren came to Friday’s Cubs game, filling nearly every seat in the section,” Ivory reported.
