The Proviso West baseball team can now boast that it’s a generation removed from a member of Major League Baseball royalty.
During a regular meeting on April 10, the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 school board approved the hiring of Ozzie Guillen Jr., the son of Ozzie Guillen Sr.
Yeah …. that Ozzie Guillen — who played shortstop for 16 seasons, 15 of which were with the Chicago White Sox, the team he also managed from 2004 until 2011.
In 2005, Guillen managed the Sox to their first American League pennant since 1959, and their first World Series trophy since 1917 after sweeping the Houston Astros.

Guillen will earn a stipend of around $6,700 as assistant baseball coach at West. VFP
