The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) was recently awarded a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development designed to correct lead paint hazards in homes for families that qualify.
Families living with children under six years old within Maywood homes that were built before 1978 may qualify for the grant program if their income is below the program limit, and if there are lead hazards in their homes.
Families that are accepted in the program will receive a free home inspection to look for lead paint hazards. If there are hazards, CCDPH will work with a licensed contractor who will come to your home and fix the hazards, at no cost to the homeowner.
Work that is typically done to fix lead paint hazards could be things like painting, replacing windows, or other home repair work to remove or contain the lead paint.
