A Maywood native and Proviso East graduate has been picked in the NBA Draft, held June 21.

Jevon Carter, a star guard at Proviso East High School in Maywood before going on to West Virginia University, was selected 32nd by the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the NBA Draft.

According to the Bleacher Report, after “establishing himself as one of college basketball’s top defenders through three years at West Virginia, Carter improved his offense this past season to get on the NBA map.

“He followed a strong senior year by impressing at the combine and solidifying himself as a legitimate pro prospect who can help at both ends of the floor.” VFP
