Work up your appetites for the Taste of Bellwood
From Friday, Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 12, on Washington Blvd. (between Eastern Ave. and 25th Ave.), the village of Bellwood will host the second annual Taste of Bellwood. The event will feature nearly two dozen food vendors, a dozen entertainment acts and more. All food items cost $3 or less. Free admission.
Get into this free co-ed basketball camp
From Friday, Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 12, at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, Milwaukee Bucks player and Proviso East alum Sterling Brown will host a free co-ed basketball camp for boys and girls in the 6th through 9th grades. Listen to some great jazz
On Friday, Aug. 10, 6:30 p.m. (doors open), at the Westside Sound Stage at T&JJ’s Supper Club, 718 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, Grammy-nominated saxophonist and Maywood resident D’Erania will lead an all-star quartet/ Cash bar. $15 donation includes appetizer buffet. Enjoy a Teen REACH basketball tourney
On Saturday, Aug. 11, 10:30 p.m., at Broadview Park District’s Beverly Center, 3031 S. 25th Ave. in Broadview, PLCCA will host its Teen REACH Summer Basketball Camp Tournament. Attend an end of summer reading celebration

Get a leg-up on giving to the Westchester Food Pantry
The Westchester Food Pantry will be accepting donated clothes, shoes and more on Saturday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Westchester Village Hall, 10300 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Westchester, but it’s not too early to start getting your items together that you’ll want to donate. Items accepted include clothes, towels, scarves, purses, shoes, hats, ties, belts, bedding, mittens, socks and wallets. Sponsored by Westchester Action Committee.
