No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a single-family home in Maywood on Friday night, according to Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh.

Firefighters responded to the fire, which happened at a house on the 400 block of S. 21st Ave., at around 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 10.

“We were assisted by firefighters from Bellwood, Broadview, Melrose Park, Stone Park, River Grove and Hillside,” Bronaugh said in a statement. “They all helped us control and extinguish the fire.”

Bronaugh said that the fire started in a room in the basement of the home. Three adult occupants escaped unharmed, he said. Currently, the chief added, fire investigators are questioning residents about how the fire started. VFP
