There’s a lot happening in Proviso Township this week. Below is just a sampling of things to do in the area for you and your family:

Enjoy a revival

From Wednesday, Aug. 22 through Friday, Aug. 24, at the corner of 17th Ave. and Maywood Dr. in Maywood, the Proviso Township Ministerial Alliance and Bishop Reginald J. Saffo will host a Unity in the Community Tent Revival.

Vendors are welcome. Free food. Nightly lecture at 6 p.m. Nightly worship at 7 p.m. Counselors, employment opportunities, singing, vendors, transformative preaching and more. For more info, call (708) 397-6944 or (708) 398-3211 ext. 3 to register.

Get financially literate 

On Saturday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m., at the Village of Stone Park Partipilo Community Center, 1809 N. Mannheim Rd. in Stone Park, Proviso Community Bank will offer free financial literacy classes focused on a variety of financial topics, including spending plans, tips on choosing checking accounts, the importance of saving, obtaining credit effectively and more. Take your little one to Saturday story time

On Saturday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m., at the Bellwood Public Library, 600 Bohland Ave. in Bellwood, Mrs. Lina will host a special Saturday story time for friends and their families. Learn self-defense

On Saturday, Aug. 25, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, self-defense expert Peter Honigmann will be at the library to host a short course in basic self-defense tactics and how to use self-defense legally. Catch a Spades tournament

On Saturday, Aug. 25, 5 p.m., at the Maywood Multipurpose Building, 200 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, Atmosphere of Tumbling will host its second annual Spades Tournament Fundraiser. For more info, contact (312) 282-5153. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Look ahead to the Autumn Afternoon Affair

The Tea Rose Educational Foundation’s annual Autumn Afternoon Affair is not until Sept. 29, at the Blue Note Jazz Club, 1715 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Broadview, but you’ll want to register in advance. Tickets: $30. Advance sales only. For more info, call (708) 613-0358.
