A Chicago man was murdered during a shooting that happened on Sept. 1 near the Bellwood Metra tracks, according to authorities.
At around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Bellwood police responded to reports of shots fired in the 4600 block of Railroad Ave. in Bellwood, according to a statement released by the Bellwood Police Department.

Police said that Chancey Dampier, 38, was driven to West Lake Hospital in Melrose Park, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s report and police statement.
The medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and on Sept. 2 released the results, which found that Dampier died from multiple gunshot wounds.
When contacted Sunday afternoon, Bellwood police said that they were still investigating the case. VFP
