A local Maywood nonprofit will host a cookout and rib festival on Saturday, Sept. 8, just a few months after the death of its well-respected leader.

Operation Uplift, Inc. and its subsidiary, the West Town Museum of Cultural History, will host the West Town Rib Festival on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the Operation Uplift grounds at the corner of 5th Ave. and St. Charles Rd. in Maywood.

The event comes just months after the death of Northica Stone, the longtime executive director of Operation Uplift and the founder of the museum. Stone died on May 16 at the age of 85.

The event will also include an estate sale of gently used clothing and jewelry will. All proceeds will go to support Operation Uplift and the museum. VFP
