Bellwood School District 88’s Preschool for All program recently earned a Gold Circle of Quality rating from ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s quality recognition and improvement system for early learning and development programs.
In a letter sent to district officials last month announcing the distinction, an official with the Illinois State Board of Education said that D88’s pre-Kindergarten site at Lincoln Primary/Early Childhood Center, 3519 S. Wilcox St., achieved the distinction after monitoring visits conducted to evaluate the program’s quality.
“ExceleRate Illinois is anchored by a set of standards that focus on early learning and development and places a high priority on instructional excellence, family services, staff qualifications, professional development, and program administration,” the letter states.
Last week, D88 Supt. Mark Holder said that he was “proud” to announce the district’s Gold Circle status, the second year in a row that the Preschool for All program has achieved the distinction, district officials said.
“The Board is extremely proud of this recognition for District 88, and it commends the superintendent, administration, and staff for this achievement,” D88 board members said in a joint statement. VFP
