Two Injured In Maywood Shooting Oct. 19

A block-long portion of 17th Avenue in Maywood has been taped off since roughly 4 p.m. after a shooting inside of a restaurant in the area.

Multiple Maywood Police and Cook County Sheriff squad cars were in front of the Hillary and Cook’s Barbecue restaurant, 1200 S. 17th Ave., on Friday evening after police found two males injured inside of the restaurant.

Maywood Police said that they received calls of shots fired at around 3:50 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the two victims, who have since been taken to Loyola University Medical Center.

The status and identities of the victims have not been released. Police said that the incident is still under investigation. They did not say whether or not anyone was in custody.

According to emergency dispatch records, law enforcement authorities were looking for a suspect, dressed in a black hoodie and black pants, shortly after responding to the incident.

As of 5:10 p.m., a portion of 17th Avenue had still been taped off. VFP

  1. This is so scary kids still coming out of school. I don’t understand why they dont close that liquor store so near the school. I seen how kids go thru and drunks pee on the side of the store never no cops. What tragedy is maywood is waiting for!!!!!!
