Village People: Walther Students Take Home First Place In MathSci Bowl

On Nov. 5, Walther Christian Academy, 900 Chicago Ave. in Melrose Park, took first place in the MathSci Bowl hosted by Concordia University Chicago.

The MathSci Bowl is a fast-paced question and answer invitational tournament focused on mathematics and the sciences. Teams in this year’s tournament included Lake Country Lutheran (Hartland, Wis.), Lutheran School Association (Decatur), Lutheran High School (Rockford), Martin Luther (Greendale, Wis.), N.E. Wisconsin (Green Bay, (Wis.), Westlake Christian Academy (Grayslake), and Wheaton Academy (Wheaton).

Walther’s team consisted of seniors Anthony Fasso (Lyons), Jordan Holliday (Berkeley) and Raffaele Serpico (Melrose Park), and juniors Emily Giannotta (Berwyn), Ashley Hermansen (Melrose Park), Isabella Santos (Chicago) and Nicholas Winkelman (Plano).

The Walther team is coached by faculty member Marcia Eberhard.
