The village of Maywood will hold a public informational meeting on Washington Boulevard street improvements on Dec. 6, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Washington Dual Language Academy, 1111 Washington Blvd. in Maywood.
The meeting is designed to update residents on the village’s efforts to improve Washington Boulevard, from 21st Ave. to 1st Ave., village officials said in a statement.
“As part of this program, the section of Washington Boulevard between 9th Avenue and 2nd Avenue was improved within the last five years,” officials said.
“The remaining length of Washington Boulevard is next to be improved but is substantial in both length and cost. In order to continue this necessary project, the Village is seeking federal funding assistance to complete this work.”
The village received a Cook County grant in 2018 to perform preliminary engineering work that would make the portion of Washington Blvd. “shovel ready” for construction when more financial assistance is available.
Officials said that the Dec. 6 meeting “is one of the final milestones for Phase I Engineering and [Illinois Department of Transportation] approval of the Preliminary Design.” VFP
