Listen to former Whole Foods co-CEO
On Thursday, Jan. 10, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Thatcher Woods Pavilion, 8030 Chicago Ave. in River Forest, area Rotary Clubs will host Walter Robb, the former co-CEO of Whole Foods Market.
West Side native and Rotarian Talei Thompson is helping organize the event. The moderator for the evening is Hermene Hartman, the founder and editor of N’Digo magazine. Tickets are $25. To purchase one or more tickets, visit Eventbrite.com and search “Walter Robb.”

On Saturday, Jan. 12, 8:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Melrose Park, 2114 Main Street in Melrose Park, the Proviso Township Ministerial Alliance Network will host its monthly breakfast networking meeting. Theme: Be the Light Our Community Needs: Remembering Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Help out with Rotary
On Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the Maywood-Proviso Rotary Club will host its first community service project of 2019, in collaboration with Operation Warm, District 89, the Maywood Public Library and the McDonald’s on 1st and Lake St. in Maywood.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, self-defense expert Peter Honigmann will be teaching basic legal self-defense tactics to people of all ages and abilities.
Do some chair yoga!
On Monday, Jan. 14, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, Rhonda Fentry, a fitness expert and exercise physiologist, will be hosting a free session of chair yoga for people
of all ages and abilities.
Meet the Bellwood Library’s new executive director
On Wednesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Bellwood Public Library, 600 Bohland Ave. in Bellwood, the library will host a Coffee with the Director in its lower level. The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to share their ideas with Amy Crump, the library’s new executive director.
