There’s a lot to do this week in Proviso Township. Here is just a small sampling of events available for you and the family:

Watch ‘Selma’

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, 4 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, catch a free screening of “Selma” (PG-13).

Learn about Autism during open house event 

On Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Loretto Hospital, 645 S. Central Ave. in Chicago, The Answer Inc., an Autism awareness nonprofit based in Proviso Township, will host an Autism Awareness & Developmental Differences Open House. This event is free and open to the public.

Do some free yoga

On Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Bellwood Public Library, 600 Bohland Ave. in Bellwood, drop-in for a relaxing session of yoga taught by local fitness expert Rhonda Fentry. Learn about the candidates running for Maywood trustee

On Saturday, Feb. 23, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 436 S. 13th Ave. in Maywood, Village Free Press will host a candidate forum for individuals running for three open seats on the Maywood Board of Trustees. This event is open to the public.

Celebrate Black History Month with Shanta Nurullah

On Saturday, Feb. 23, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, nationally known storyteller Shanta Nurullah will present a variety of stories and songs from African people across the globe. Celebrate Black History Month with Bellwood

On Sunday, Feb. 24, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Eisenhower Community Center, 700 Speechley Blvd. in Hillside, the village of Bellwood will host its annual Black History Celebration. Performances by local schools, community organizations and Pastor Darius Brooks. VFP
