Help build a coalition around the arts in Proviso Township
On Wednesday, March 13, 5:30 p.m., at Maywood Fine Arts (Studio C), 20 N. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the public is invited to a follow-up meeting about a proposed Artspace (a place where artists can live and work), as well as an Arts District, in Proviso Township. Calling all artists who believe in bringing drama, poetry, dance, music, theater, drawing, painting, filmmaking, architecture, ceramics, sculpting, photography and so much more to Proviso Township. Please come and bring an artist with you.

Have breakfast with Bellwood Mayor Andre Harvey
On Thursday, March 14, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Bellwood Public Library, 600 Bohland Ave. in Bellwood, the Bellwood Chamber of Commerce will present Breakfast with the Mayor. Bellwood Mayor Andre Harvey will give the keynote address. Chamber members: $20. Friends of the Chamber: $30.

Attend the Rotary’s Women of Proviso Speaker Series
On Thursday, March 14, 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Meal of the Day Café, in the Eisenhower Tower, 1701 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, the Maywood-Proviso Rotary Club will host guest speaker Lena Hatchett, an associate professor at the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood and cofounder of Proviso Partners for Health.

Honor outstanding Proviso Township women
On March 16, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the Women’s Community Leadership Council will present the Era of Women in Leadership. Join us for our own Women Herstory Month program honoring seven outstanding women in Proviso Township: Lanya Satchell, Twana Jenkins, Sophia Brown, Dr. Bessie Karvelas, Kristen Mighty, Dr. Nia Abdullah and Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough (the event’s keynote speaker).
