There’s a lot to do this week in Proviso Township. Here is just a small sampling of events available for you and the family:

Visit Proviso East’s Health Fair

On Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28, at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, Loyola’s School-Based Health Center will hold its annual Proviso East Health Fair. The annual event brings together students, community agencies and Loyola University students to promote health.

The theme for this year’s annual health fair is “Eat Right, Live Right, Feel Right.” The goal is to give young people the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices in a fun and engaging way. 

Get glammed up for prom

On Saturday, March 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maywood Multipurpose Building, 200 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the Best of Proviso Township Glam Squad will host its third annual Prom Dress Drive. All dresses given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be juniors or seniors, currently enrolled in high school. Each student must present a valid school ID card or other proof of current enrollment, their name and contact information.

Students will be allowed to receive one dress, one pair of shoes, one purse and up to four pieces of makeup (if the items are available). For more info, contact Rajeska Jackson at (708) 790-1939 or Marie Dennis at (708) 299-3861.

Help the Westchester Food Pantry raise critical supplies

On Saturday, March 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Westchester Village Hall, 10300 Roosevelt Rd # 1, Westchester, the Westchester Action Committee, the Westchester Food Pantry, and Wetnose Pantry will host Empty A Closet, Fill A Belly. Please bring your unwanted clothing, purses, shoes, towels and bedding. For more info, call Krista Brazel (708) 495-6338.

Celebrate Empowerment Church’s 3rd Anniversary

On Saturday, March 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Roosevelt Middle School, 2500 Oak St. in Bellwood, Empowerment Church will host its first Soup for the Soul Saturday. Free lunch with friendly people in a fun environment. You should come and bring your crew. Open to anybody and everybody, so spread the word. For more info, empowerment.church. 

On Sunday, March 31, 10 a.m., at Roosevelt Middle School, 2500 Oak St. in Bellwood, Empowerment Church will host its 3rd Anniversary Celebration. Afterwards, the church will host a Day Party, 1 p.m., at Top Golf, 3211 Odyssey Ct. in Naperville. $30 cover. Includes golf, food, soft drinks and a great time. Attend an appreciation service for Rev. Jeff Harris

On Sunday, March 31, 10:45 a.m., at Second Baptist Church, 436 S. 13th Ave. in Maywood, the congregation will hold a special appreciation service for the church’s interim pastor, Rev. Jeff Harris. VFP
