Learn about property taxes
On Thursday, May 2, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Proviso Math and Science Academy, 8601 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park, Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson will present A Listening Tour with Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi. Join them for a special conversation on property taxes. Take advantage of Shred Day
On Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Broadview Village Hall, 2350 S. 25th Ave. in Broadview, Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson will host her Annual Shred Day. For more info call Thompson’s office at (708) 681-3600.
Attend a youth job fair
On Saturday, May 4, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, Proviso Township High Schools District 209 and the village of Maywood will host the One Proviso Safe Summer Youth Job Fair.
This event is for youth between the ages of 13 to 24. Experts will be on site to give tips on creating job applications, job searches and resumes. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from local area businesses to learn about summer job, volunteer, and internship opportunities.

Walk to support Autism
On Saturday, May 4, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Proviso West High School, 4701 Harrison St. in Hillside, The Answer Inc. will host its 10th Annual Autism and Special Needs Walkathon. Registration: 11 a.m.

Get your FREE groceries
On Saturday, May 4, 3 p.m., at Maywood Church of Christ, 619 S. 13th Ave. in Maywood, the church along with the HOJO Family Assistance Program will be providing free groceries to those in need. Bring your bags and shopping carts and fill them with fresh fruit, veggies, bread and meat.
