Proviso Track And Field Stars Qualify For State

On May 16, Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, hosted the 3A Boys Track and Field Sectionals. Several athletes from Proviso Township High Schools District 209 performed well enough to qualify for the state competition, which will be held May 23 through May 25, at Eastern Illinois University.

Proviso West Panther Kyshun Robinson qualified for state in the long jump while Panthers Jalon Jones, Isiah Guider, Katrell Askins and Kyshun Robinson qualified in the 4×400-meter dash relay after taking first place in that event. Askins also qualified for the 400-meter dash. Proviso East Pirate Isaiah Tyler qualified for state in the long jump.

Proviso West placed fifth as a team while Proviso East placed sixth. The two track and field squads were separated by three points.

The results for the 2019 IHSA Boys Sectional are posted below (results for Proviso East and Proviso West student-athletes are outlined in red):
