Students interested in applying for Proviso Township High Schools District 209’s newly created summer employment program can now apply online.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply and may work up to 30 hours per week at $10 per hour from July 1 through August 9. The temporary jobs will be in the district’s custodial/maintenance department.

District officials said that if applicants do not have access to the online application, they may complete the electronic application process through the Office of Human Resources at the Proviso Township High Schools Administrative Offices, at 8601 W. Roosevelt Road in Forest Park. This must be done during regular summer business hours, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The D209 school board created the summer employment program on June 18, after conversations that D209 board members had with staff, community members and parents.
District officials said that the program will serve “as a pilot with the intent to expand student work experiences beyond this department and summer hours,” adding that the they intend to “develop more extensive offerings via student ‘internships'” designed to promote career and work-place experiences for D209 students.
District 209 Board President Ned Wagner said that 24 slots will be available — 10 each at Proviso East and Proviso West, and four at Proviso Math and Science Academy. Students can pick up applications at their respective schools, he said, adding that jobs will be granted on primarily on a first-come, first-served basis.
“With D209 as the center of our community, I am excited to continue to open our doors and re-establish this student employment program which will have a huge impact on our schools and communities,” said D209 Supt. Jesse J. Rodriguez.”
District 209 board President Ned Wagner said that “is so heartening to be a part of the wave of community support for our teenage students. D209 is very proud to have revived our student jobs program and inspired by the many other Proviso area organizations involved in developing the workforce readiness of our youth.”
