The village of Maywood will host a Know Your Rights Census 2020 workshop on Monday, July 15, 6:30 p.m., at the Maywood Multipurpose Building, 200 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood.
PASO West Suburban Action Project, the immigrant rights organization, along with the Maywood Mayor Edwenna Perkins, will present residents with accurate information about the upcoming census and stress the importance of participating. The workshop will be conducted in Spanish.
“Census numbers are used to help determine how billions of dollars of federal funds will be allocated and we need, and deserve, our fair share of those resources,” said Mayor Perkins.
“The census numbers are tied to many things, including how much money will be allocated for schools, lunch programs, hospitals, roads and infrastructure, and disaster relief,” she added. “So, please come out to the workshop and get more information concerning what it is all about and the importance of Census 2020 for our village.”
