Don Williams, Maywood’s Second Black Mayor, Dies At 92

Don Williams — the Maywood businessman, civic leader, minister and politician who served a term as mayor of Maywood — died on July 9. He was 92 years old. Williams’ death was confirmed by close relatives, who said that he had been in hospice care.

Melrose Park Man Gets 18 Years For Selling Fatal Heroin

A Melrose Park man has been sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for his role in a fatal heroin overdose, according to a statement put out by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin.

At least three suspects wanted for an alleged armed robbery of cell phones on July 5 led area police on a chase that resulted in a train on the Union Pacific line coming to an unanticipated stop. The incident happened just after 2:30 p.m.

Broadview Victorious In Court Battle Against Chicago Joe’s Strip Club
