County’s Black History Month Essay Contest To Award $3,500 To Winner

An essay contest sponsored by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will reward the winner with a $3,500 scholarship, which would go to support the winner’s first year of college.

A group of community leaders are exploring the possibility of luring a development to Maywood that would provide affordable housing, as well as work space, for local artists is planning to meet again on Jan. 30, 5:30 p.m., at Maywood Fine Arts (Studio C), 20 N. 5th Ave. in Maywood.

Shedd Aquarium To Offer Free Admission To Federal Employees During Shutdown

The Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, is offering free admission to federal employees and their families for the duration of the federal government shutdown, Shedd officials announced in a statement released today.
