Don Williams, Maywood’s Second Black Mayor, Dies At 92

Don Williams — the Maywood businessman, civic leader, minister and politician who served a term as mayor of Maywood — died on July 9. He was 92 years old. Williams’ death was confirmed by close relatives, who said that he had been in hospice care.

Broadview Mourns Beloved Park District Employee

Cynthia Tidwell, the recreation supervisor for the Broadview Park District and a longtime Broadview resident, died on June 12. She was 56 years old. The cause, said Reggie Davis, the park district’s executive director, was cancer.

Father Of Bellwood Chamber President Dies At 64

Terry Edwards, the father of Christopher J. Parker — the president of the Bellwood Chamber of Commerce and a vice president of commercial lending with Wintrust Bank Chicago — died suddenly on June 10. He was 64. Parker announced his father’s death in a Facebook post on June 11 before later confirming by phone.

Funeral arrangements for Northica Stone — the former executive director of the nonprofit Operation Uplift and founder of the West Town Museum of Cultural History who died last week at 85 after a long illness — have been arranged.
