D209 Blasts Aramark Over Spoiled Milk

In July, the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board of Education begrudgingly approved a one-year, roughly $1.1 million contract with Aramark Education Services to feed district students who qualify for free breakfast and lunch.

Three months later, district officials are still frustrated with the company despite some signs of progress.

Proviso East Homecoming Parade Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7

The annual Proviso East Homecoming Parade will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7. Participants will line up at 8 a.m., and the parade will begin at 9 a.m.

Anyone interested in participating should report to color guard coach Rodney Smith the morning of the parade at Winfield Scott Park, located at 19th Ave. and Maywood Dr. in Maywood, where the parade route begins.

It’s Back! Proviso West’s Homecoming Parade in Pictures

On Saturday, Sept. 23, Proviso West High School held their first homecoming parade in around a decade. The festivities started at Stevenson Park, 3105 Washington Blvd. in Bellwood and wound its way west along Washington Blvd. to Butterfield Rd. before turning on Wolf Rd. in the direction of the high school.

D209’s Parent University to Convene Discussion About College on Sept. 26

Maywood Students Hospitalized After Ingesting ‘Unknown Substance’

Three students who attend Garfield Elementary School, 1514 S. 9th in Maywood, were sent to the hospital on Sept. 20 after ingesting what school officials are calling an “unknown substance.”
