Tax Refunds Mailed To Thousands In Cook County On Aug. 9

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas recently refunded $19.5 million to roughly 53,000 homeowners in Cook County due to a new state law that increased the amount of property tax exemptions for some people, the treasurer’s office announced in a statement released last week.

Property Tax Bills Now Available Online

Second installment property tax bills for Cook County property owners can now be viewed and paid online, according to the Cook County treasurer’s office. The bills, which are scheduled to be mailed next week, are due on Aug. 1.

Property Owners Have Until April 30 To Pay Late Tax Bills Or Risk Annual Sale

Property owners have until 11:59 p.m. on April 30 to pay their past due property tax bills or risk their houses, buildings or lots getting included in the annual delinquent tax sale that starts Friday, May 4.
