Mandatory parent meetings could be coming to Proviso Township High Schools District 209 starting next year. District 209 board member Rodney Alexander introduced the proposal during the inaugural meeting of the newly reconfigured parent and community engagement committee, held Nov. 8 at Proviso West High School in Hillside.

In July, the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board of Education begrudgingly approved a one-year, roughly $1.1 million contract with Aramark Education Services to feed district students who qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
Three months later, district officials are still frustrated with the company despite some signs of progress.

A Proviso Math and Science Academy teacher has apologized for a Facebook post in which he said undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children should “go back.” The post ignited a furious response from current and former students at the Forest Park school.
